Trent Barton Route 18 to End

update

Above is a very recent update – looking more positive now.

I have officially been told that the Trent Barton Route 18 is to completely end at the end of September.

Trent Barton have told me:

Afternoon,  we can confirm that with effect from 30.9.18 we will no longer be operating the 18. Since the introduction of the additional tram lines we have continued to run at a loss, therefore to ensure the sustainability of the wider business we have had to make the difficult decision to stop running the service. We have consulted with and passed the route information onto the relevant councils in the hope they may be able to find an alternative operator to maintain some kind of service to the communities on the route.~Jay

This means that both of our County Councillors would be fully aware of the plans and have kept it quite.  As the Highways Authority Nottinghamshire County Council would be well aware of this.

The Route 18 is a vital link to Beeston especially for the people of the Stapleford North Ward which is the opposite side of Stapleford to the Tram Terminus on Toton Lane, Stapleford.

Many residents rely on the Route 18 to get to and from work in Beeston, this is not a good decision for local residents.

Eyam Close Bus Stop – Shelter

A local resident who wishes to remain anonymous has written to Nottinghamshire County Council to request a Bus Shelter at the Nottingham in bound stop at Eyam Close here is the reply:

Thank you for your enquiry, in respect of the above location.

I have noted your request for a bus shelter at the BR0444 location and also for a real time electronic display, in order that you would be able to see when the next bus is due at the stop.

I write to confirm that I will investigate the possibility of a bus shelter installation at the location. I am currently in contact with the bus operator(s), in order to ascertain the current levels of patronage in the both directions near Eyam Close and I will progress my enquiries, once this information is obtained.

I have also noted your request for a real time electronic display at the bus shelter. The County Council has limited funding for installations across the County and in the first instance, we have chosen to install these at key stops along routes. The programme for the 2018/2019 Financial Year has already been established, but I intend to add BR0444 to my request list for future consideration should any further funding become available. The current restricted budgets will not allow all requests to be fulfilled but I will maintain the request on our possible future installation list going forward and review it, when budget permits. The next bus stops on this route which already have a display fall into the Nottingham City Council area. I am therefore unable to provide an explanation for their decision to proceed with their install programme.

Thank you once again for your enquiry and I will be in further contact, as soon as I have completed my investigations.
